What's good Wednesday

Because another creative "project" is sapping all my juices right now, Fun Things is being replaced this week by a What's Good Wednesday post...

What's good...laying in bed this morning, 2 babies between us, smiling & laughing at each other there in the dark.

What's good...stayin' afloat amidst the return of students to campus (equate with someone knocking over an ant hill)...grateful to the best boss in the world for letting me bail out on working check-in weekend (as if I weren't already indebted enough)

What's good...a 2-fer for the Fisher family at church.  John sitting in big church w.Mama & Deddy for the 1st time - me looking past Seth to marvel at his still/attentiveness.  Seth sending John to the front for the Children's moment all by himself (me nervously telling Seth to go with him - thinking to myself, why did I pick today to not sit in the front).  John sheepishly glancing back at us as he made his way up - seeing that blonde head pop above the front pew once he finally arrived, checking to make sure we could still see him (he did say a "Daddy" during the prayer - but that's completely forgivable).  Seth returning to worship after dropping John at Children's Church - saying he did fine.  Being just the proudest Mama (heart be still)

What's good...Ella and all her "B-I-B-I-B-I" - it's how her 10 month old self sings the B-I-B-L-E song.  It's usually heart be still for us, but by the time she gets it all out repeatedly...um, let's just say she's a fervent and adamant performer (bless her heart - bless our ears).  Add John chiming in to help her along - no wonder Salem's not been around the dinner table much this week :)

What's good...Saturday afternoon pool parties.  John & Ella both had a big time at Tanner's P's 3rd bday at THE Garner Country Club (an oxymoron if there ever was one).  It was great though w.lots of our kinda people.  And when you have several coolers - one labeled "Adults" and a bag of koozies beside...well, I needn't elaborate on the awesomeness of that (it truly is the little things).

What's good...Ella being moved to the big girl class - last one before the big jump DOWNSTAIRS.  Director Jenny asked me last week if I was ok w.her moving her up on Monday - I didn't hesitate to say yes.  John got barely any time w. Ms Margaret, so I was excited that Ella might get some of the time he didn't.  However, talking about it over the weekend, we did come up w.a few reservations on Ella's readiness for this move.  Our uneasiness was quickly put to rest w. Ms Margaret's oh-so-sweet-note awaiting Seth on the drop off Monday morning...

"Just want to let you know that it is a joy for me to have Ella coming into my class on Monday.  I already know that she is a beautiful and sweet little girl.  I promise you I will look out for her and take the best care of her that I can.  If you ever need to call to check on her at any time please do so.  I look forward to loving your precious little girl."

Yep, re-reading that - eye sweat for sure :)  Blessed is understating how we feel about the care our children get at Sonshine.

What's good...that we're 2 days from the official start of the weekend ~ WACDD.  The back porch has been spiffed up a lil' to take serious advantage of this break in heat.  Some signs of Fall have started to creep into the house - I am ready to say bon voyage to summer.  A new backporch soundtrack, mostly courtesy of Crackerfarm & The Brothers (Avett, in case it needs to be said) has been added to the collection & shall remain on heavy rotation.  A bottle of wine later on Friday evening (beer for Seth, bottle for me) ~ a collective breath was taken there on the porch with The Avetts, the crickets and the comfort of being together.  Looking forward to many more moments on the porch in the coming days now that summer is slowly relenting that hostage-like grip on all the outside joys we've been missing.

What's good...having made 2 trips around Lake Johnson in the last 2 days.  Though I have a blister & some sore calves (I swear they made those hills steeper), there was much nostalgic joy to be felt making the rounds and walking across that bridge.  Looking out at that water, laughing a little to myself - glad Seth took my advice & found a girl who was more "his type" :)  Looking up to where our lil' apt. was - where we could look through the trees to the water, thinking back to how much smaller our world was then.  Thankful for those happy memories...more thankful to be waking up to all the life unfolding over the years since.

What's good...getting surprise cards yesterday w.sentiments of porchin', listenin' to music & basking in each other's company.  Said cards including CDs - just pure awesomeness.  Apes, you make my heart smile ~ miss you friend (sigh).

Hope everyone's having a good week - if not, you've got a couple of days to turn it around...

Happy hump day :)
