Giving thanks

At supper time, we sit together as a family to eat...sometimes, our littlest person gets a slight head-start. Once Mama & Deddy finally sit down - a lil' hand reaches over to his Deddy w.a "uhhh" - he knows it's time to pray.

So, I say, "Let's bow our heads & pray...". The other night I happened to be standing when we started, so I took John's other hand - Deddy holding one, Mama holding the other. I think I started something b/c now he reaches for both our hands...

I have to say that holding my son's hand to say the blessing is one of life's sweetest gifts thus far. I know he doesn't know what it means, I know his eyes are open most of the time, I know his mouth is usually stuffed full and he usually tops off the "Amen" w.a small round of applause :). None of that matters - he's learning w.out knowing. He's learning to pause before he partakes. He's having a special moment w.Mama & Deddy when we sit down together as a family. He's finding joy in that moment - evident by the applause & huge grin. He's making Mama & Deddy better people b/c of the example we want to be for this lil' person. He makes our hearts so full and our many blessings so apparent...
